Royals announce academy roster

Royals have become the most recent UK organisation to announce an academy roster. The organisation has further bolstered its UK Counter-Strike portfolio after signing the Chetz roster led by Kyle “Swaggy” Wilson in October. The roster will be headed by former Royals Coach, Andy “Mythix” Shek, who has been enlisted to develop the roster’s young talent.

We are delighted to welcome our new CS2 academy roster!

Playing under the banner “Team Oasis Esports”, the roster completed their ESEA Intermediate regular season with 9-5 record, resulting in a playoff berth. Similarly, their strong UKIC Division 3 season resulted in a 10-1 record.

Despite in-server success, the team had played much of the most recent season with stand-ins and substitutes, the most frequent of which was Mythix. Having originally been approved by Declan “D2Kester” Kesterlian in the summer, Mythix used his experience as a stand-in to gauge the ability of the roster before arranging the opportunity for the core to develop under Royals.

As for Mythix, his long-term love affair with Royals seems everlasting. This time he will feature as a coach/player hybrid. The Northern Ireland resident has previously represented the main team as player, coach, analyst, and even team manager.

Mythix’s most recent CV entry was as an analyst for Project G, whose roster included Counter-Strike veterans Audric “JACKZ” Jug and Piotr “morelz” Taterka. The now Royals Academy IGL is hoping to scratch his competitive itch while he searches for a similar coaching/analyst role in another organisation.

“I have that feeling to compete and play in the server which is something you sometimes get when you’re in coach slot or out of server completely, and whilst I haven’t been able to find an analyst/assistant coach role that aligns with my overall goals in that area swaggy has let me continue to help work in player development.”

The roster will now compete for promotion in both the ESEA and UKIC playoffs as Royals Academy. The Royals name has been part of UK Counter-Strike since 2016, when it formed as a mix team under Jack “kpiz” Pragnell. Kyle “Swaggy” Wilson would join in 2020 and use the tag for numerous UK and international rosters over the next three years, with Royals going “official” last month by acquiring the Chetz roster.
