Rey have entered CS2, signing a core of players from Robins after the team chose to depart their former organisation. The signing brings a fresh organisation into British Counter-Strike with a roster that has seen some good fortune come their way early on in the season.
The team had ESEA Main qualification in mind when joining the organisation, hoping to improve on their previous season where they finished Intermediate playoffs with a 3-2 record. In a turn of events their good placing was enough in the end to get promoted to Intermediate when it was announced on X (formerly Twitter) that a few spots had opened up in Main, granting Rey a spot in the next tier of the ESEA League.
Another story of the Rey core is their desire to make UKIC division 1 after going out in the first round of division 2 playoffs last season following an unfortunate loss to Viperio Academy where Star awper Harry “BOG” Hopkins had his internet crash 5 rounds into their map pick and the second map of the series where they were beating Viperio Academy 5-0. Unfortunately they were unable to field a substitute forcing them to play 4v5 ultimately losing the series 2-0.
Speaking to IGL Reece “Chow” Gammon he had this to say about the unfortunate division 2 loss:
I believe we would of 100% made Division 1 that season with the team we had, the momentum we had and the team work we had.
Rey will also be bringing in a new player, replacing their fifth from Robins with Rob “Ourob” Fowler an EPIC.LAN frequenter having played with Joe “Godku” Fowkes where they consistently made playoffs together. Reaching top 8 at Epic 40 with Chucklestorm Strikers and being the AWPer on the “Keep ’em Honest” roster that eliminated Rory “Cryths” Ursell in the first round of playoffs, just after he had qualified for the Blast.TV Paris RMR with Viperio.
Rey organisation owner Oli had this to say about entering UK Counter-Strike:
Rey are:
Reece “Chow” Gammon
Harry “Bog” Hopkins
Tor “Tor” Trygg
Ollie “Just_oli” Froud
Rob “Ourob” Fowler
