Reason Gaming will no longer be competing in ESEA Advanced Season 53

Despite making a Cinderella run to the Grand Finals of ESEA Main, Fred “FincHY” Finch, Charlie “cJe” Everitt, and James “Flicky” Errington will not be playing their debut Advanced season.

Reason Gaming has announced they will be “saying goodbye” to Ukrainian duo Mykhailo “m1she4ka” Sakach and Vitaliy “v1ze” Filatov. This means that they will be taking over the ESEA Advanced spot and replacing the British core. This is possibly due to m1she4ka being the captain of the ESEA team.

This iteration of Reason Gaming was able to play in ESEA Main because they took over Mykhailo “m1she4ka” Sakach and Vitaliy “v1ze” Filatov’s spot from team Chroma.

Why does it matter who the captain of the spot is? Well, the spot is owned by the team account, and the owner is the captain; therefore, if he and one other player want to take over the team, they can do it.

The ESEA Rules regarding Captaincy and Mutinies:

For the other team members, in order to forcibly change the leader of a team, at least 65% of the current roster who have played in at least 30% of the team’s matches for the current season (or 30% of the team’s matches from the prior season if no matches have yet been played) must agree on a new leader.

So, because both v1ze and m1she4ka will be playing together next season, there is literally nothing the three Brits can do. The core of Flicky, Finchy and cJe only constitute 60% of the roster, and therefore, cannot forcibly change the leader of the team.

After not only qualifying for ESEA Advanced but also making the Grand Finals of ESEA Main, it is all in vain. A lot of the narrative around UK CS is currently doom and gloom, yet, through the darkness, Reason Gaming provided an ounce of hope. Now, because of something they cannot control, it has been taken away from them.

UKCSGO spoke to Reason Gaming owner Adam “Blanks” Heath about the current situation and future of the team:

The Ukrainians got a salaried offer to join another team. As part of the conditions of getting the spot on the team the ESEA spot would have to go with them. As we only had the original spot in the first place due to them, and because we didn’t want to stand in the way of this opportunity for them we agreed to let them leave with the ESEA spot.

Now the team is going to be rebuilt with less focus put on ESEA, and more on entering tournaments that provide VRS points

UKCSGO also understands that Reason Gaming has not confirmed its spot for the next season of UKIC Division 1.

Taking a look at the ESEA spot, the name has been changed to Abyss. v1ze and m1she4ka seemingly are joined by Dmytro “t0kk” Petrenchuk, Tusacan4ik and Dy4ka.

UKCSGO understands that this new project will be joined by AWPer Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk from Adventurers. However, as of writing, he is not currently listed on the ESEA team page.

Today we say goodbye to 2 players from our CS roster
